Horses

My eyes are lost beyond the pale,
My words are shells drowned in the depth
Of green, grey seas

I walked on endless avenues
Lit only by the thought of you
And ghosts of days unseen

Where’s the light, where’s the way
When the heart keeps hiding
In long-gone days?
And I wonder why
I dream about us riding on horses in the night

Bitterness, oh it’s so real
It gnaws at you, it eats your skin,
It chains your soul

I never thought I’d lose my way
The way I lost you, the way I failed…
It’s a long, long road

Where’s the light, where’s the way
When the heart keeps hiding
In long-gone days?
And I wonder why
I dream about us riding on horses in the night

In summer nights, in winter dawns
The heart has ways to turn to stone
But it’s never for too long

I wish I knew the thing to do
To delete you now, to erase you
But you still shine way too strong

Where’s the light, where’s the way
When the heart keeps hiding still?
Where’s the light, where’s the way
To keep out from long gone days?
